Comment coming out from the minutes of the June 2003 meeting of the ASN.1 Group, dedicated to republication of the ITU-T X.660 series of Recommendations:
"A partial review of ITU-T X.669 was undertaken. It became clear that the title and early text was misleading, because it implied that it was allocating arcs immediately beneath itu-t(0) . It is in fact clear in later text that it acknowledges that the registration authority for all such arcs is Rec. ITU-T X.660 itself. ITU-T X.669 is concerned solely with specifying the operation of a registration authority for allocating arcs beneath {itu-t(0) identified-organization(4)} , and expects that should further arcs be defined beneath the itu-t(0) arc, the associated registration procedures for arcs beneath any such new arc will be added to ITU-T X.669. It would be appropriate to change the title of ITU-T X.669 to more correctly reflect its actual scope. In addition, the early introductory text including the summary and scope clause need major revision to avoid giving a misleading impression."
